Pulp Treatment in Westlake, OH
Pulpotomy – When a baby tooth has deep decay that is close to the pulp (nerve), bacteria can travel to the pulp and infect it.  This procedure is performed to remove the decay and diseased part of the nerve while leaving the healthy part intact- to minimize the  bacteria from further affecting the entire tooth. This allows the tooth to remain vital(alive), it is usually followed by a crown
Pulpectomy – When caries has travelled all the way and involves the entire pulp (nerve), treatment requires the whole pulp to be removed. This procedure is usually indicated when a child has an abscess or infection. It is followed by a crown. The other alternative to this is extraction
LSTR (Lesion Sterilisation Tissue Repair) – Indicated when the tooth has an infection/ abscess and there is root resorption. Triple Antibiotic Paste is placed in the pulp chamber, followed by a crown. This is indicated for saving the tooth for a short duration.
