Ohio Give Kids A Smile Day

The team at Bay Pediatric Dentistry responded to the needs of underserved children by participating in “Give Kids A Smile Day” on February 2nd, 2007. GKAS day officially started in 2003 by the American Dental Association to help children in need of dental care. Dentists, staff and dental students volunteer to provide basic oral health education and dental care to disadvantaged children.

In addition to oral hygiene and nutrition education, Dr. Diana and Dr. Sarah provided free examinations, along with restorative treatment, crowns and extractions. GKAS day events are often the only treatment that these children may receive this year. GKAS day may also be the first step in the process of improving children’s oral health by educating Cleveland’s youngest citizens.

This year’s event was expected to serve over 10,000 children at the Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine. Bay Pediatric Dentistry offers many thanks to Lisa, Char and Kate who sacrificed their free day to help with GKAS.
